Nas - Life Is Deep

Ok here's the 3rd and (maybe) last installment of my Nas mixtape series.

Close to a 1000 downloads in less than 48hrs thats cool, and is what i intended to do by dropping these tapes. I hope it helped y'all make the wait for Life Is Good a better moment. It was for me anyways, i appreciate the love i've been getting & the appreciation of my work. Would've loved to get some more in depth opinions tho' i know i will never be able to take the time to make other mixtapes like these. I hope you appreciated the creativity & the unique way they weret together, i really tried to make original tapes with good ideas to put up with my total absence of technical skills.

Having already heard the Life Is Good album, i can tell Nas is going to force a lotta emcees to step their game up, and hopefully add some damn substance to their music. Tracks like Daughters & Bye Baby are purely and simply unparalleled in today's hiphop. To me Nas was always at his best in his most somber but honest & self introspective moments. Slept on tracks like "my worst enemy", "drunk by myself", life we chose", the rise & fall", "nothing lasts forever" are to me his best work ever. I'd take these over any "banger" or "lyrical exercise" any day simply because those are the tracks that make Nas the untouchable GOAT in my mind. No one raps like this.

So this 3rd tape is a mix of some of Nas' best deep, introspective, socially aware and even sometime mystic verses. It is (again, to me) the best of the 3 mixtapes, it just flows like an incredible 35 track album, withouth ever getting boring or preachy. Some of the ideas i had on here for mixes were just amazing... yeah i said it. Dont wanna break them down before you listen but i'll let yall make your own opinion.

And once again, feedback appreciated.

PS : sorry this tape doesnt have a sick artwork to go with it, i really didnt have the time to find someone to do it quickly enough for me. matter of fact, before this morning, and eventho i made this tape 7 years ago, it did not even have a title.... til i saw Salaam's tweet refering to Bye Baby
https://twitter.com/SaLaAMReMi/status/222469369744203778  and ran with it!

edit 07/11 just when Life is Good leaks, Casso Dinero hits me with the sickest cover possible!!!

reminder :
1/ i did the 3 tapes in 2005, around the time Streets Disciple dropped i think. i would love to have the time & talent to remake it bigger & better but i cant because....

2/ im no way a dj. i did these with a wack ass free software called Tplayer, with no beat synch, effects and alla that, just a cross fader... i literally mixed these songs with the arrow on the keyboard of my laptop... so not all the mixes are gonna be perfect... i tried to redo them last month but with my son i just dont have the time... you wouldnt believe how many time & patience i took me to do these 3 tapes...

My original idea was to call this whole mixtape series "It's What They Want"at a moment (realize now it's always like that for every Nas release) where fans ("fantagers" were begging Nas to bless them with Illmatic 2, do this & that,  have this feature & these producers etc... Was supposed to make a real dj like intro with AZ's voice repeating "its what they want" with the original Mandrill song playing the background but i sucked at it and decided to leave it raw.

Raw is the theme of this tape actually... straight spittin from start to finish.. wanted the listener to wonder when Nas would actually stop killing verses after verses..i believe it worked! I actually didnt introduce songs with their original sample, wanted this tape to hit hard! You'll find these soul samples introducing Nas songs in the 3rd volume, the one i love the most!

For now, be ready to break your fuckin neck and lookout for the link in the comments section

Nas- I Am...The Audiobiography

I see heads are starving so much for this life is good album they're not finding sleep no more..
So here's my promised gift to y'all Nas fans. Hope you like it.

I always thought there's a huge amount of Nas tapes on the net but there's mostly best ofs & blends. Rarely anything to match or at least pay homage to nas' unparalleled creativity.

Not saying that I did, but I tried. I Am the AUDIO-BIOGRAPHY tells a story. I took some of his best & most personal verses, as well as some of his Escobar persona verses to retrace all the stages Nas went thru during his life & rap career.

So this goes from him telling how he viewed the world from his mama's womb, to growing up in the QB projects, getting caught up in crime, drug trafficking..living the life & portraying the mirage of a drug lord...til the unavoidable downfall...loneliness, depression, and eventual death...god given second chance, glorious comeback for God's Son... coming full circle, reflectin back on life, good & bad decisions, honest & humble like only Nas can be in his raps!

To add creativity to this tape, i blended some of the songs with the original songs they sampled, you'll find many here & there throughout this listening experience.

I have 2 other volumes coming : one is nas straight spitting, murdering beats, the other one is nas on his more conscious, socially aware, mystic tip. They have even greater replay value than this one to me, as the Audiobiography tape is more of a concept mixtape. Hope i can release them in the next few days before the album drops, i need a title and cover for them. Overall there will be over 100 nas tracks mixed and 300+ of his best verses.

Speaking of covers, the Audiobiography was done by Ar El
contacts http://www.kanyetothe.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=20236

I asked him to make me a blend of the I Am cover, of course, and the Greatest Hits CD cover, which i believe, in a few back & forth sessions, he did perfectly

here's a short teaser i had done of the tape with the successive covers he made

before i let you discover the tape, a few things you will need to bear in mind while listening :

1/ i did the 3 tapes in 2005, around the time Streets Disciple dropped i think. i would love to have the time & talent to remake it bigger & better but i cant because....

2/ im no way a dj. i did these with a wack ass free software called Tplayer, with no beat synch, effects and alla that, just a cross fader... i literally mixed these songs with the arrow on the keyboard of my laptop... so not all the mixes are gonna be perfect... i tried to redo them last month but with my son i just dont have the time... you wouldnt believe how many time & patience i took me to do these 3 tapes...

3/ this is an AUDIO-BIOGRAPHY and not an Autobiography. So dont take this 1st degree. I obviously took verses where Nas spoke about his life but also storytelling verses or verses of his escobar era and tried to make a new story with all that, the story of his rhyming career from 1994 to 2005..
